Was at mom's yesterday evening and caught the school board meeting on tv. If Rocky Cantrel is the best representation of what a Pound eduction is then you can kiss that place goodbye fast. They are discussing the budget shortfall of 3.2 million for next year and Rocky asks:

"There are around 40,000 residents in Wise County right? Well 40K divided into 3.2 million would be $8 per person and I am sure everyone would be willing to give that to keep all the schools open."
Then sets back all smug and yeah what you got to say about that and listens to the applause from all the other brainiacs.

Well Mr. Cantrel that is all well and good but 3.2 mil divided by 40K is not 8 it is 80!!! Now how many people do you think are going to want to pay that???? And that amount was just to keep everything the way it was this year and didn't account for increases in fuel costs, energy costs, insurance rates or anything else.

Just out of curiosity, how many on here think that we need to recall the SB and the BOS? And how many of you think that the SB is using this 3-in-one school plan as a ploy to get what they really want? Three schools on 3 sites along with Norton coming into the mix?

A recall would be pointless

Yes I DO think that the 3 in 1 plan is a call of the BOS bluff on funding IMHO I THINK you will see Pound at Wise, Appy at PV and ST Paul at Coeburn before all sides will actualy work togethar on the 3 schools at 3 sites plan (But that is just my opinion)

Actually, the inclusion of Norton into any consolidation plan would require approval from the BoS. Which, IMO, is something the WCSB doesn't want to happen.

I know there's nothing particularly wrong about it, but I wonder about having Cornette and Rivers serving on the two boards. Amazing how their tunes changed with the introduction of the 3 schools / 1 site plan. Then there is the question of whether or not Rivers was feeding Cornette questions via text messaging at a recent meeting.

Cornette = dumbass. I've seen Perry lay out and explain everything so simple, then she says "I'm just not understanding"...then she gets embarrassed and asks for a private meeting because she doesn't want everyone to see how dumb she is - which she really said something to that nature. I read that in the paper too about the texts and someone challenging it because it could be considered public records, I really didn't think the lady was capable of using a cell phone.

Well, there are about 40,000 residents but only about 16,000 households. So that would be about $200 per household.

The school board is so fun to watch, was it Mr. Cantrell who made the comment recently, when something came up about personnel and the policy that he didn't have the time to read every page of everything because he had a life. Best/worst comment I think I've ever heard in the meetings.
